About North Farm

North Farm is a community of approximately 300 single-family homes in North Bethesda, built between 1979 and 1984 by Kettler Brothers — the same builder behind the neighboring Old Farm subdivision across Montrose Road. Situated off Montrose Road near Tower Oaks Boulevard, the neighborhood benefits from its central location between Rockville Pike and I-270. Kettler offered four Colonial-style floor plans — the Meadow Hall, the Sharon, the Locust Grove, and the Tanglewood — each featuring two-car garages and brick or brick-and-siding exteriors on lots up to nearly half an acre.

Many homes have since been expanded with additions over garages, bumped-out kitchens, finished basements, and modernized primary suites. The neighborhood is organized around farm-themed streets — Farm Haven Drive, Farm Pond Lane, Green Pasture Drive, Dairy Field Court — reflecting the agricultural heritage of the land before development. A Realtor familiar with the area can help you understand the difference between homes that retain their original floor plans and those that have been significantly expanded.

The North Farm Citizens Association (NFCA) is a nonprofit HOA established in 1984. Annual dues are approximately $85, and an Architectural Review Committee reviews exterior modifications before construction begins. At the neighborhood’s center is the 5.5-acre North Farm Park, with tennis courts (with pickleball lines), a dedicated pickleball court, a basketball court, a multi-use field, a playground, and a covered pavilion available for rental.
